THE PHILOSOPHY:

The philosophy of the Preschool on the Green is that early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploring and discovery. Preschool children are receptive and creative and the goal of the staff is to nurture and encourage these qualities in the children who attend.

THE CURRICULUM:

The Preschool on the Green’s ever-evolving curriculum is based on the Preschool Curriculum Framework, as recommended by the State of Connecticut. The Preschool’s program offers appropriate play experiences that contribute to the physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development of each child. The dedicated staff has been carefully selected for their awareness of their profession, as well as for their love and understanding of children.

The vast curriculum includes:

1. center time and small groups
2. open ended art activities
3. scissor and pencil skills
4. letters, numbers, shapes and colors
5. science experiments and activities
6. sequencing and language comprehension
7. music and movement
8. activities to develop large and small motor skills
9. social skills
10. Clifford and Weekly Reader Magazines

OPERATING SCHEDULE:

The Preschool is open from September to mid June

3 year old program:

Tuesdays and Thursdays

9:00-11:30 am or
12:30-3:00 pm

4 year old program:

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

9:00-11:30 am or
12:30-3:00 pm
